RJ45 interface definition

August 26, 2019

  1. There are two types of common RJ45 interfaces: DTE types for Ethernet NICs, router Ethernet interfaces, and DCE types for switches.
  2. DTE can be called "data terminal equipment", DCE we can call it "data communication equipment". In a sense, a DTE device is called an "active communication device," and a DCE device is called a "passive communication device." When two types of devices are connected using the RJ45 interface, a crossover connection must be used.
